The lecture highlights the expulsion of Jews from Arab-ruled lands—including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq—during the 1950s and 1960s. More than 800,000 Jews were forced to flee or were expelled, ending communities that had existed for centuries, and in some cases for over two millennia, while receiving no international recognition or assistance. Despite its limited resources as a young state, Israel welcomed many of the refugees, providing transportation, shelter, and opportunities to rebuild their lives.
