Dr. Yizhar Hess is Vice Chairman of the World Zionist Organization. He was elected to that role in 2020 as a representative of MERCAZ, the Zionist slate of the global Masorti/Conservative Movement. Dr. Hess, Vice Chairman, Mercaz Olami, was Executive Director of the Masorti Movement in Israel from 2007 – 2020 and represented the Masorti Movement in negotiations with the government regarding egalitarian prayer at the Kotel. He is co-editor of Questions About God, published by Ma’ariv. Dr. Hess, is a member of the Israeli Bar and earned a Ph.D. in Sociology and Education from Sussex University in England.
