Welcome to HaMakom at B’nai Torah Congregation
A uniquely personalized B’nai Mitzvah journey for neurodivergent children
HaMakom—meaning “the place” in Hebrew—is B’nai Torah’s inclusive B’nai Mitzvah program designed for children with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, and other diverse learning needs. Here, every student is celebrated for who they are, and every family is embraced with understanding, compassion, and support.
A Journey Tailored to Each Child
No two children learn the same way. HaMakom adapts the B’nai Mitzvah experience to the strengths, interests, and needs of each student. Through personalized instruction, flexible teaching methods, and a warm, patient approach, students are empowered to connect with Jewish traditions and values in meaningful, joyful ways.
Where Every Child Feels Seen, Valued & Celebrated
Our goal is simple: to make every student feel supported and every parent feel at ease. Families often share how transformative this program has been—like the grandparents who watched their autistic grandson not only chant from the Torah, but deliver a beautiful Dvar Torah that expressed his personal journey. Moments like these reflect the heart of HaMakom.
A Community Built on Inclusion
At B’nai Torah, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to shine. HaMakom removes barriers to learning and creates a safe, encouraging environment where students can thrive, grow, and experience the pride of becoming a B’nai Mitzvah.
