DESCRIPTION:Tali Ysia’s journey began at just four years old\, when she walked for two and a half months through the Sudanese desert with her family as part of Operation Moses\, the historic effort to bring the Jews of Ethiopia\, known as Beta Yisrael\, to Israel. Descended from the ancient Israelite Tribe of Dan\, the Beta Yisrael community lived in isolation from other Jews for millennia\, preserving unique traditions and deep faith. Since making Aliyah in 1984\, Tali has dedicated her life to leading impactful educational and social initiatives in Israel and around the world. Schudrich received rabbinical ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and later\, Orthodox smicha through Yeshiva University. He began working for the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation and resided in Warsaw from 1992 to 1998. He returned to Poland in 2000 as Rabbi of Warsaw and Łódź and in 2004 was appointed Chief Rabbi of Poland\, a position he holds to this day. He serves as Co-Chair of the Orthodox Rabbinical Board’s Va’ad Ha’Kashrus\, Director of Conversions for the Beth Din of Florida\, and Posek of the Boca Raton Mikvah\, and sits on the Boards of Katz Hillel Day School\, Hadar High School for Girls\, and Friends of the IDF. SUMMARY:The Meaning of Kadosh - Rabbi  Michael Schorin
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nKadosh most often is translated as holy\, but what does that really mean? We use this word with almost all of our rituals\, most of our mitzvot\, and throughout the Sabbath. In this class\, we will take some time to consider what Kadosh / holy meant in Biblical times\, what it has meant throughout the ages\, and what it might mean for our present moment.\n\n\nRabbi Michael Schorin earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary. His early passion for hospital chaplaincy led him to help establish a clinical program for rabbinical students at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and become one of the first rabbis in the country to complete a chaplaincy residency. Rabbi Schorin holds a Doctor of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary and a master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Chicago. A Board Certified Chaplain and former Vice President of Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains\, he served for 15 years at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and nine years with CJE SeniorLife. After relocating to Florida\, Rabbi Schorin became Lee Health’s first full-time rabbi/chaplain\, serving for more than five years at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers. He now works as a psychotherapist. Originally hailing from New York\, Rav Hanan immigrated to Israel on his own at the age of 20 and has lived in Alon Shvut\, Gush Etzion\, for 40 years. He spent over 10 years in advanced Jewish study\, primarily at the Har Etzion College of Jewish Studies and in the M.A. program of the Dept. of Jewish Philosophy at the Hebrew University. In early 2014\, Ali Abu Awwad and an Israeli partner Shaul Judelman\, together with Rav Hanan and other Israelis and Palestinians\, founded Roots/Judur/Shorashim. Rav Hanan currently serves as its Director of International Relations. He also is the founder of the American Friends of Roots\, a multi-faith organization dedicated to supporting the work of Roots/Shorashim/Judur. Rav Hanan frequently speaks in the USA together with one of his Palestinian partner about the amazing work that Roots/Shorashim/Judur is doing in Judea/Palestine. \nRabbi Schlesinger is a member of the Rabbinical Council of America and the International Rabbinic Fellowship\, as well as Beit Hillel\, an Israeli rabbinical association. He is a Rabbis Without Borders fellow\, and was honored in 2013 and again in 2014 as the Memnosyne Institute Interfaith Scholar.
