SUMMARY:Women at the Margins: The Stories of Hagar & Tamar\, Redefined
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a two-part exploration of two of the Bible’s most misunderstood women: Hagar and Tamar. \nHagar’s story is more than Sarah’s cruelty—it’s a deeply human struggle involving dignity\, silence\, and divine promise. Though cast aside\, Hagar is seen and heard by God\, even as the covenant continues through Sarah. \nTamar’s story\, often reduced to an act of seduction\, is actually one of justice and courage. Denied her rightful place\, she risks everything to preserve the covenantal line—leading Judah to proclaim\, “She is more righteous than I.” \nTogether\, these stories urge us to move beyond simplistic readings and invite powerful conversations about compassion\, power\, justice\, and covenant. \nPlease register for the Zoom link.\nClick here to RSVP \n\nThis class is proudly sponsored by The Lillian\, Philip and Gerry Cooperman Academy for Adult Jewish Learning. \n\nRabbi Michele Faudem was ordained by and earned her M.A. in Education from The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. She was Rabbi-in-Residence at Hillel Day School for nine years.  Following that\, she became the Coordinator of Adult Jewish Education and the Houston Melton Director at the Houston JCC. Rabbi Faudem has been teaching adult education classes in the Detroit Jewish Community since 2004.  She is a passionate teacher and currently teaches numerous JLearn classes in her hometown of Detroit\, MI as well as Melton+ classes.
